Reef Dives
Our local reef is only a 5 min ride from our marina and we have a range of dive sites to suit all experience levels, with reef at depths ranging from 10 ft to 100 ft.
Diving around the Berry Islands is unparalleled within the Bahamas. We benefit from Chub Cay’s unique location between the shallow shelf of the Berry Islands and the deep water to the south. This attracts all species of marine life including sharks, turtles, rays, and eels as well as a wide variety of tropical fish. Our reef has a lot to offer with a wide range of sites to suit different interests, whether it be roaming beautiful coral gardens or drift diving along stunning walls.
The biggest highlight during our dives is the very high chance of encountering reef sharks. Unlike many other Bahamian dive operations, at Chub Cay Divers we observe the sharks’ natural behavior, in their natural environment, as there is no chumming or feeding involved.

Chub Cay is the perfect place to try scuba diving, with the resort’s large heated pool for practicing, and the beautiful shallow reef that surrounds the island. Lots of colorful coral and marine life to encounter!
Our introduction program takes about half a day and comprises of a pool session followed by an ocean dive. Your PADI instructor will go over the basics of scuba diving and equipment fundamentals. You jump in the pool and practice a few skills and swim around to get comfortable with the equipment. Once you are happy, we are ready to go out on a real dive! We will take the boat and explore the underwater world on a dive to a maximum depth of 40 feet.
To sign up for the experience, you must be at least 10 years old (8 years old if only doing a pool session, see below). No prior experience with snorkeling or scuba diving is necessary, but you need to be in reasonable physical health.
$100 p/p for pool session + Reef Dive prices.
$220 total p/p for pool + one reef dive (rental gear included)
$70 per group for underwater photos of your experience.

Looking for a fun activity for your children? Parents can join in too!
Our “Bubblemaker” program is exactly as it sounds, a fun way for kids to blow bubbles underwater and have a first introduction to scuba diving. Conducted in the shallow resort swimming pool, kids can have fun and explore what it is like to scuba dive under direct care and supervision of a PADI dive instructor. Parental approval is required… supervision from the Tiki bar with a cocktail is recommended! Adults can also join the experience and try diving too.

Schedule
As Chub Cay is very quiet we do not have fixed time and are very flexible in our scheduling. We normally suggest leaving either at 9AM, or 2PM but if you would prefer a different time schedule then no problem at all. Reservations made ahead of your arrival to Chub Cay are highly recommended to ensure you get your preferred schedule.
On your first diving day you will need to arrive 30 minutes before departure to arrange your paperwork and equipment. Dive sites are normally planned on the day to ensure the best dives for current conditions. The boat ride out to the dive site can be as little as 5 minutes or as long as 30 minutes.
